The videos aim to understand the many-sided personality of Federico da Montefeltro: humanist, patron of the arts, man of faith, deeply human prince, captain, and statesman.
“His age had no other man like him”, Federico da Montefeltro, “army captain, luminary of all throughout all time, but luminary, among many excellent virtues, on the patronage of humanities as well” made Urbino a cultural and very important centre of elevated civilization in Europe.
The video, thanks to beautiful and suggestive images, tells Federico's life-story. From his birth in Gubbio on the 7 th June of 1422, through his troubled childhood, his unhappy marriage with Gentile Brancaleoni, and up to his rise as count of Urbino in 1444 after the murder of his half-brother Oddantonio. Federico was one of the main patrons of the arts; he created a court that was a cultural centre where artists became leaving examples of his greatness as a patron and messengers of his value. The video leads the viewer on a tour of Palazzo Ducale in Urbino, “The most beautiful one in Italy”, allowing him to discover its values, decipher the signs, the allegories, the symbols that talk about his humanism and his patronage and that are imprinted everywhere.
