In Umbria , the olive trees and olive oil have always had a considerable importance and still dot this region landscape, scenery, economy and its people's culture thanks to the symbolic and mystical characteristics that they spread. The olive tree, present on the region's hills since Etruscan times, benefits the landscape nature of the Umbrian area; oil represents an important source of income for countless companies, thus it is even an instrument for a sound exploitation of the regional resources.
The farther olive tree extends, the easier it is to find the traces of a great past. Symbols together with marvellous respect for environment and nature.
The tree arises in ancient and suggestive places, it grows and gets vigour from stony grounds, as protection of our history and our culture, and is witness to a great, immortal civilization. The Umbrian extra-virgin olive oil today is distinguishable for its quality and typicalness; these elements have allowed for very good profit on national and international markets, contributing to an increase in the value of regional land.
Our olive fruits, the labour of the Umbrian olive grower and his continuous research for quality, are today defended by the European Union with the Denominazione di Origine Protetta “DOP Umbria” (Registered Designation of Protected Origin) which guarantees the products of five zreas: Colli Assisi Spoleto, Colli Martani, Colli del trasimeno, Colli Amerini e Colli Orvietani.
